Which Embosser Should You Purchase?

40mm Hand Held Embosser
With its lovely and sleek design, the hand held embosser is the perfect choice for you if you have a small project, or if you plan to use it frequently, but only on a few pieces as a time. It is also a pretty addition to your desk.
When the interchangeable clip is removed, it can be stored in between the embosser hinges which makes this embosser also quite compact and can be easily packed for travel if needed.
As the hand held embosser creates its impression by being squeezed in your hand, it may give a more subtle impression on thicker papers and, after prolonged continual use, it can make your hand tired. If your are working on a larger project, you may want to consider the long arm embosser.

50mm Long Arm Embosser
Sturdy and strong, the long arm desk embosser is the workhorse. If you are a stationer, a bride elevating her own invitation suite, or have a project that will be requiring many impressions, this is the embosser that you will want to have.
When working on a project that will require a numerous amount of impressions to be done, the desk embosser makes it easy to do them all without any hand fatigue. Also, its impressive leverage yields a very crisp design.
The long arm on the body allows the motif to be embossed deeper into the paper, up to 1.5” from the edge, which can be helpful when it comes to design.
There is a lock on the body so that the handle can be secured down when not in use.

Things to Note
Neither embosser is inherently better, rather each is better suited for certain tasks as described above.
Do take care when changing insert clips as it is possible to pinch your finger - especially with the desk embosser.
With both embossers, it is highly recommended to have extra of the paper to be embossed on hand so that you can test impressions first to gauge how much pressure to apply. Some papers will not need as much pressure and may actually look better with a softer hand. Also, as everyone has their aesthetic preferences, you will want to make sure that you know how hard you need to press to achieve the look that you want on any specific paper. * The depth and appearance of the embossed motif will vary depending upon the variables of the paper which is being embossed. Thicker paper will generally yield a more subtle impression than a thinner variety. The texture of your paper can also affect the crispness or visibility of the impression.
